Light Sensitive Photo Theremin
(Last updated Thursday June 22, 2006 at 12:38 PM)

Introduction

I’d like to introduce to you to the new “Theremin-C”. The "Theremin-C" is a light sensitive photo theremin that sounds similar to an actual antenna based theremin. The theremin is considered the world’s first electronic instrument. The first theremin was designed by the Russian physicist Leon Theremin (1896-1993), who built his first instrument in 1918. The theremin was also the first electronic instrument with performers playing solo and concert music written specifically for it by major composers. Whether you're after wild sci-fi special effects and sounds or looking to add a new level of creativity to your own compositions, this instrument is for you!

The "Theremin-C" is a brand new, professionally built photo theremin using prime parts and a double-sided plated thru hole PCB for reliability. This solid-state photo theremin is ready to go out of the box. No assembly required. The “Theremin-C” features an On/Off switch, 1/4" output jack, heavy-duty Hammond black ABS enclosure, and uses only a single inexpensive battery (included). Simply connect it to an amp. Turn it on. Then, wave your hand over the sensor to vary the sound from a low growl to a high pitch squeal. You can also connect it to a guitar effects pedal such as a delay, reverb, phaser, etc. for some really wild sci-fi sounds like those from the great sci-fi shows of the 50’s and 60’s. You can also connect your “Theremin-C” directly to your PC’s sound card (using a 1/8” adapter) and record the sounds directly onto your computer for editing and effects.

Why pay hundreds of dollars for a theremin with antennas that can easily get broken, while the “Theremin-C” sounds great, works great, is significantly smaller, and costs a whole lot less? Find out how the “Theremin-C” can add those wild sounds to your music, videos, and special effects today.

"Extremely fine Theremin. Great construction, and wide multi-octave range. This is fun to use, and I find the range of tone is better without natural sun creeping through the shades. I like that it is very portable, can show it off (and advertise for you!) Case is solid, some are quite cheesy. Have run it through different effects on my DOD and the options are endless. This is just what I have been looking for in a new sound to work with, and enhance the range of possibilities in music writing. In short, Thanks! And appreciate the LIGHTNING shipping!" - Gary Flom 2003/09/11
